In September 1928, in Kaifeng, the provincial capital of Henan at the time, the hospital was founded as the First Affiliated Hospital of National Henan University.
In 1958, the hospital was moved to Zhengzhou and given the new name First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Medical College.
The hospital was given its current name in 2000 after Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and Henan Medical University merged.

The Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital located in the Guishan District, Taoyuan City, in Taiwan, is one of the biggest hospitals in the world.
The hospital was established in 1978 with a focus on numerous medical specialities.
